Most homeowners’ insurance policies include some coverage for the theft of common household items such as:
● Jewelry
● Personal and financial documents such as passports, credit cards, deeds, stamps, and tickets
● Silverware
● Televisions, computers and other electronic devices
● Cash and coins
● Art
Specific items with a very high value, such as wedding rings or art, are often placed on a rider and an additional premium is paid to insure these items for their full value. After the violation you felt from theft or vandalism of your property, you can at least look forward to filing a claim with your insurance company to cover your losses. Unfortunately, these claims are often denied or underpaid by insurance companies that allege that the stolen items are not exactly what the insurance companies cover.
If your insurance company is not paying out what they should on your claim, call us to interpret your policy and assist you in obtaining the recovery you are entitled to.
